Tradition by excellence and popular celebration enjoyed by all, the National Day is even better when the journey to the festivities takes place smoothly and in complete safety. Here are five good reasons to take the train on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 June.
Flexible travel
To help you make the most of the festivities as you wish, special trains will be running on several lines during the night of 22 June to 23 June 2025. This means you can return home at dawn in complete safety, if you feel like it. On National Day (Monday 23 June), CFL trains will run according to the public holiday timetable.

Easy parking near a station
The CFL provides more than 8,500 parking spaces close to the country’s railway stations and stops. So there’s plenty of choice when it comes to getting to your chosen venue, whether it’s the capital, Esch-sur-Alzette or another local festivity.
Several of these P+Rs offer large parking capacities from the north to the south of the country, always next to a station: in Troisvierges (388 spaces), Mersch (405 spaces), Luxembourg (620 spaces), Rodange (1570 spaces) and Belval-Université (1403 spaces). Consult the services available at the P+Rs here: CFL | Station services
Thanks to the CFL P+R application, you can take advantage of 24 hours’ free parking at CFL P+Rs (except the one in Luxembourg) while continuing your journey by public transport or soft mobility within a radius of more than 1.5 km of the P+R. Find out more about the application here: CFL
Enjoy the festivities in every corner of the country
With 68 railway stations and stops on the rail network, the CFL allows you to travel throughout the country and easily reach your destination for the National Day celebrations.
Consult the CFL station network here: CFL | Network and Stations
For cyclists, 87 bikeboxes (secure bike parks) are available, many of them right next to stations and stops: CFL | bikebox – secure bike hubs
Admire the fireworks in the capital
The festivities in the capital begin on the eve of National Day, Sunday 22 June, with the ‘Fakelzuch’ and the majestic fireworks display. Concerts, music, entertainment for young and old… the programme is rich, with a new edition of the free ‘City Sounds’ concerts at the Glacis.
It’s easy to reach these festivities and the official programme on Monday 23 June by train, arriving at Gare Centrale.

Take advantage of the public transport offer
In addition to the CFL, all the public transport operators are working hard to ensure that you enjoy the National Holiday to the full.
