Events that will get your summer rocking

Music, nature, funfairs… all the shades of summer are yours, with events and other outdoor activities mostly accessible by train. Here’s a selection of good ideas to suit all tastes.
The oldest festival, still going strong!
Since 1953, the Wiltz festival has been celebrating the start of summer with a programme as diverse as it is high quality, focusing on jazz, pop and the performing arts, with the local castle as the main backdrop. This year’s festival runs until 20 July, with the fado of Carminho (11/07) and the legendary rock group Skunk Anansie (16/07).

Discovering the invisible with LUGA
Under the theme ‘Making the invisible visible’, the Luxembourg Urban Garden (LUGA) temporary exhibition is taking over five sites until 18 October 2025: the Alzette valley, the Edouard André municipal park, the Pétrusse valley and the Kirchberg in the capital, and the town of Ettelbruck. For an unusual plunge into the bowels of the city, the Aquatunnel will be opening its doors for the first time, with the sound installation ‘The Lower World’.
More info: LUGA – Nearest stations: Luxembourg Station, Pfaffenthal/Kirchberg intermodal hub and Ettelbruck station.

Luxexpo, giant open-air stage
Over the course of several evenings, the car park of Luxexpo The Box will be transformed into a playground for the Atelier teams and several thousand music lovers who, from rock to pop to electronic music, will be in for a treat. For the 2025 edition of Luxexpo Open-Air, several big names are on the bill. After Green Day (30 June) and Sting (1 July), Martin Garrix (4 July), Justin Timberlake (8 July), Damso (16 July) and Guns n’ Roses (28 July) will be rocking the Kirchberg.

On your bikes for the Vëlosummer
We recently shared five ideas for cycling tours to make the most of the summer, the ideal time to hit the cycle paths and enjoy the country’s varied landscapes. The proof is in the success of the ‘Vëlosummer’, which takes place every year from 19 July to 24 August 2025.
Organised jointly by the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and the Ministry of the Economy, the event, which aims to (re)discover Luxembourg by bike, will this year offer 14 routes in collaboration with 59 municipalities. Several stretches of road will be temporarily closed to traffic so that cycling goes hand in hand with safety. Some routes will only be accessible at weekends, while others will be open throughout the event.
The CFL will be putting in place special trains and a cycle shuttle during the summer works.

Unmissable Schueberfouer
Perhaps everything has already been written or said about the importance of this funfair created by Jean L’aveugle via the Charter of 20 October 1340. What was once known as the ‘St Bartholomew’s Market’ attracts several hundred thousand visitors, whether for the culinary specialities, the new attractions or the more traditional rides. The Schueberfouer remains the main fair – and therefore popular – in the Greater Region. The 2025 edition will take place from 22 August to 10 September, on the Champ du Glacis.

Infos : Schueberfouer | Ville de Luxembourg – Nearest stations: Central Station and Pfaffenthal/Kirchberg interchange. The CFL will adapt trains’ capacities during the event.
Ettelbruck Agricultural Fair, End of Season at the Philharmonie, Nuit des Merveilles, Blues Express, Wandersummer, 15 years of the Centre Pompidou-Metz… there are so many other ideas for having a good time this summer. In any case, you can get there in complete safety thanks to public transport and the CFL train service. Check connections and timetables before you leave via cfl.lu (‘Search timetable’ section).
To maintain the impeccable state of the railway infrastructure and meet growing mobility needs, four lines will be affected by works between 11.07 and 14.09.2025 (included): • Luxembourg - Esch/Alzette - Rodange and Luxembourg - Thionville - Metz lines: no trains between Luxembourg and Bettembourg from 11.07 (22h15) to 14.09.2025 (included). • Luxembourg - Ettelbruck - Troisvierges - Gouvy line: no trains between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck and between Luxembourg and Diekirch from 19.07 to 10.08.2025 (included). • Luxembourg - Wasserbillig - Trier line: no trains on the Luxembourg section of this line from 23.08. to 14.09.2025 (included). Please visit cfl.lu, ‘Search Timetable’ section, or use the online tool Info Travaux to find out how to get around during these periods. As in previous years, the CFL will be providing a large number of replacement buses, mobilising more than 200 drivers every day to ensure continuity of service during these operations.
