Valence, the “bon vivre” at the gateway to the South of France

Between the Rhône and Saône rivers, Lyon’s Presqu’île and its 19th-century buildings offer an ideal setting for shopping enthusiasts, with its shopping streets and high-fashion boutiques. Time seems to have stood still on Fourvière hill, with Vieux-Lyon and its 15th-century quarters, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, inviting you to take a stroll. A city of silk and textile arts, Lyon is just as much appreciated for its rich wine-growing heritage, its restaurants and its charcuterie. The great gastronomes, starting with Paul Bocuse, have made it their stronghold.
Marseille, on the edge of the Big Blue
Marseille, the « cité phocéenne », as it is nicknamed, has it all. From the panorama of the Big Blue from the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica, to the historic center and its lively terraces, passing by the old port and its small markets. Along the Canebière shopping avenue, you can shop windows and eat for almost a kilometer. Nestled in the heart of the oldest French city, the Velodrôme stadium attracts football lovers in large numbers. Departing from Luxembourg Station, with a stopover in Lyon or Valence, the TGV takes you to Marseille. For the return, nothing better than the direct TGV from Marseille Saint-Charles.
