More than 8,500 parking spaces and just as many reasons to take the train

// 16 October 2024

Combining train and car is a clever way to travel efficiently, enjoy the comfort of the train and reduce the environmental impact of your travel. This practical and intelligent multimodal approach is widely promoted by the CFL, which offers more than 8,500 parking spaces near the 68 stations and railway stops across the country.

From open-air car parks near railway stops to the large P+Rs at the intermodal hubs at the country’s main stations, the CFL provide their customers with a multitude of parking solutions for their vehicles.

The range of options is growing all the time, with 2,000 additional parking spaces inaugurated in 2023 at the P+Rs at Rodange station (1,570 spaces) and Mersch station (405 spaces).

Three openings in just a few months

And the momentum isn’t stopping there! On 7 October 2024, 150 new parking spaces were opened in the Colmar-Berg (Northern line) overground car park – quadrupling the number of spaces with this partial opening. When the work will be completed, 245 parking spaces will be available on a surface area of 9,000 m², located along the Northern line and not far from the A7 motorway.

Also in 2025, 160 new spaces will be available at the Wecker stop car park. A further 389 spaces will be added at Troisvierges station thanks to the construction of a covered P+R with a refined and bold architectural design, with work scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025.

Simplified access and payment

The CFL P+Rs are gradually being configured so that they can be accessed via the ‘P+R CFL’ application, which was introduced in 2023 with the opening of the new Rodange P+R.

Contactless access, automatic payment, payment history… the application is packed with features to make it easier to use the P+Rs. It also offers free parking for 24 hours at the Rodange, Mersch and Belval-Université P+Rs, on the condition that you continue your journey by train or by public or soft mobility (beyond a radius of 1.5 km around the car park).

The application will also be available at the P+R at Luxembourg Station at the end of 2024. Customers will be able to take advantage of its many features, with the exception of free parking. 24 hours of free parking is only possible for users of P+R intermodal hubs located outside the capital’s perimeter.
