Customers rescued in real conditions on board a train
On 20 November 2024, around sixty CGDIS and CFL staff were mobilised at Rodange station for an exercise to run in operations and test the communication chain in the event of a rail incident.
The services of the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) and the CFL Safety, Security and Environment Service have been working hand in hand for several years, in particular to carry out evacuation exercises. The aim of these exercises is to simulate the real-life conditions of an incident in which potentially injured people have to be rescued or medically treated.
‘This type of exercise is essential because it allows us to fine-tune our routines and procedures. It also provides an ideal framework for simulating coordination and communication between all the stakeholders involved,’ explains Doris Horvath, Head of CFL’s Safety, Security and Environment Department.
‘The success of this exercise is the result of collective work at all levels and across all CFL’s areas of expertise. I’m particularly pleased with the involvement of our teams in the field, from preparation to the actual conduct of the exercise, which was very useful in anticipating the various scenarios that could arise in a station such as Rodange’, sums up Edouard Fadi, Deputy Head of the South-West Region, in CFL’s Infrastructure Operations Department.
The CFL would like to thank all the staff involved in making this exercise a success, as well as the CGDIS for its invaluable support in safety and rescue matters.
