Five signs of Respect… as simple as “1,2,3”

To mark National Respect in Public Transport Day, which takes place every 3 May, the public transport service providers involved are sharing five behaviours that promote good together.

1.         As simple as “1,2,3”

Greeting other public transport users and staff is the best way to start your journey.

In trains, trams, buses and the funicular, respect prevails in all circumstances.

2.         Sharing good vibes… and our seat!

Leaving your seat for someone who is elderly or accompanied by a child is also a form of respect. And a bag placed on a second seat can also do the same 😉

Putting your bike in the right place and leaving the spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility free are good habits.

3.         Kindness prevails over violence

If you’ve had a difficult day or your journey has hit a snag, think “kindness” before any form of violence towards public transport staff or other users.

Inside the train, the telephone must be turned to silent mode and calls must be made from the platforms, not in the compartment.

4.         Music softens the mood

If music or videos help you relax during your journey, don’t forget to plug in your headphones. Trains, buses, and trams are not concert halls…

Respect also includes the equipment used by other passengers 😊

5.         Respect safety first

Safety on public transport is a serious matter. Respecting safety also means respecting other passengers and public transport staff.

Keeping public transport clean is also a question of respect by using the many bins provided.

Under the patronage of the Minister for Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes, the National Day of Respect in Public Transport was launched in 2023 by the CFL in collaboration with the Public Transport Administration, the City of Luxembourg, Luxtram and the TICE.
