At Troisvierges, the future P+R is taking shape, piece by piece

The CFL are building a new P+R at Troisvierges to provide optimum parking conditions for passengers using Troisvierges station by the end of 2024. Take a look at the construction in pictures.
Safety, an absolute and non-negotiable priority for the CFL, is a determining factor on a site located just a few metres from the catenaries. Handling the crane requires all the more care and dexterity.“Cofra Plus” steel boxes will fit into these large slots before being covered with reinforced concrete, which will itself receive the asphalt surface course on which the cars will travel.Construction of the main staircase on the station side will begin after the summer break in 2023. It will include a lift, a room for the caretaker and a toilet for people with reduced mobility (PRM).
“We are installing and assembling the parts of the parking structure in successive steps, starting at the bottom of the parking area and finishing on the station side,” explains Jérôme Cremer, Project Manager and engineer within the CFL Infrastructure Manager’s Infrastructure Projects department.
The gloomy weather at the beginning of August 2023 did not dampen the workers’ motivation. While one team is busy welding a support for a steel beam, another is installing additional metal elements to form the structure of the new P+R at the Troisvierges CFL station.
The horizontal beams are 6 metres long. The vertical pillars are between 8 and 11 metres long.Made up of 1,110 vertical slats and 1,374 horizontal aluminium slats, the façade will create a surprising and bold optical effect, like a 3D projection.
“We’re working piece by piece, following the same principle each time: erect the vertical support elements for the horizontal beams, then cement the latter to the vertical supports”.
The crane used for the work was specially installed on rails. Practical for moving around and leaving free access for lorries. Also clever for avoiding the need for a second crane. Now covered by the soil, the 15-tonne hydrocarbon separator – mandatory on this type of infrastructure – can be seen through an inspection chamber. It will separate the run-off water from the car park from the hydrocarbons discharged by the cars.A rainwater retention tank is also planned to redirect it towards the Wiltz next to the P+R, as agreed with the Water Management Authority.

Two independent bodies are carrying out double inspections to ensure that the work, including the welding and the delicate installation of the beams, is being carried out correctly.500 m2 of solar panels will be installed on the roof. The team in charge of the works has one imperative on its agenda: to complete the track-side slope of the parking area by December 2023, to coincide with the end of the barrier period for the track in question.
