RAILtab: for staff, to improve the service for the customer
One of the CFLs’ permanent wishes is to make the tools available to its staff and customers ever more efficient and easy to use. This is how RAILtab was born.
As a mobile application, RAILtab is an information and communication system that allows CFL rolling stock to collect, on a single device, a multitude of data related to the management and daily operation of the network and necessary for customer service.
The RAILtab project was commissioned in June 2019. Thanks to a distribution of some 720 devices over two months, since August 2019 all CFL rolling stock has been equipped with RAILtab tablet or smartphone.
A big step towards a paperless working environment
The computerised system, RAILtab aims to dematerialize the multiple information and communication media used on a daily basis by rolling stock. Work instructions, shift schedules, departure times of the respective trains, RAILtab allows the CFL agent to scroll through their working documents at the touch of their fingertips. Without needed to print everything on paper.
Closer proximity to customers
It is important for the CFL to ensure coherence between the information provided to its clients and that passed on to its employees. In addition, CFL staff can only provide effective assistance and information on a case-by-case basis to the individual needs of each traveller if they are aware of the information actual available to customers through various platforms.
It is in this spirit that the CFL mobile application is part of the applications integrated into RAILtab. Delays, cancellations, platform changes… thanks to data from CFL mobile, rolling stock, users of RAILtab, have a range of real-time information on any ongoing disruptions on the national and cross-border network. A means of instantly communicating one or other useful data to customers on a train or on the platform.
Better interaction between employees
RAILtab is much more than just consulting digitised documents. Via a messaging function, the system allows simplified communication between train staff members, who are on the platform, in a train, or otherwise in different trains operating on the national network.
This program, which is also used by staff on the train, makes it possible to report any material damage or vandalism observed on board a train. In just a few clicks, the user has to capture the mischief in an image and transmit it to the department concerned.
