During a recent exercise at the CFL Central Workshop, CFL employees and CGDIS emergency teams trained for a real-life emergency situation. The exercise scenario: A locomotive fire in the CFL Central Workshop in Bonnevoie in the late afternoon.
In the test scenario, one person sustained injuries and had to be taken to the hospital.Meanwhile, the damaged locomotive was pulled out of the hall by a shunting engine.Thanks to the swift intervention of the CGDIS rescue teams, more serious consequences were avoided.The exercise, which was a first in this format, aimed on the one hand to test and coordinate the emergency procedures in place.The exercise gave CGDIS teams the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the site conditions, including access to the workshops.The rescue teams, for their part, worked with heavy breathing apparatus to locate and extinguish the source of the fire.The rescue teams also handled the recovery and further care of the injured person.The task of the CFL employees, led by safety coordinator Claude Stiefer, was to make the emergency call, initiate first-responder care for the injured person, cut off the power supply, and organize the evacuation of personnel.During a subsequent debriefing, the participants reviewed the scenario.
